App privacy policy
Last updated: 22 October 2026
This policy covers the PocketCaddi iPhone app. The website at pocketcaddi.com has its own privacy policy.
Who is responsible
PocketCaddi, Zürich, Switzerland. Contact: info@pocketcaddi.com
The short version
PocketCaddi runs on your phone. There's no account, no login and no server that stores your rounds. Your bag, your range data, your scorecards and your course notes live only on your iPhone. We don't sell, share or profile any of it.
The sections below cover the few exceptions: the data your phone sends to third parties so the app can work, and optional crash reports.
What stays on your phone
Everything the app learns about you is stored in the app's own storage on your iPhone. It's backed up only through your own iCloud backup, if you have that turned on:
- Your bag: clubs, carry distances, shot shape and skill level
- Your range sessions and dispersion stats
- Your scorecards and shot history
- Your course plans and notes
- Your settings, including Competition Mode
None of this leaves your phone unless you choose to share it, for example by exporting, taking a screenshot or sending a bug report.
What leaves your phone
To work on a real golf course, the app has to talk to a few services. Each one gets only what it needs for that request.
Location. When you start a round, the app uses your iPhone's GPS to show where you are on the course, measure distances and detect your lie. Location is used on your phone. We don't send your coordinates to our own servers. When the app fetches weather or elevation (below), the current coordinates go to that provider as part of the request.
Course maps. When you load a course the app hasn't seen before, it fetches hole, green, bunker, water and fairway data from OpenStreetMap through the public Overpass API, and uses Apple Maps search to find courses. These requests include the search text or the coordinates you're looking at. Downloaded course data is then stored on your phone.
Weather. When you start a round, the app fetches current wind, temperature and conditions for the course from a weather provider, so it can work out plays-like distances. The request includes the course's coordinates.
Elevation. To work out slope, the app may fetch elevation data for the target coordinates from an elevation data provider.
These providers only see the coordinates and the request itself. They don't see who you are, your bag or your scores.
Crash reports (optional)
If you opt in, the app sends anonymous crash reports when it crashes so we can fix bugs. They contain the crash details, your iOS version and your iPhone model. They don't contain your name, email, location, scores or anything about your bag or rounds. You can turn this off at any time in Settings. If you don't opt in, no crash reports are sent.
What we never do
- We don't have user accounts
- We don't track you across apps or websites
- We don't show ads
- We don't sell, rent or share your data with anyone for marketing
- We don't use analytics tools that profile you
- We don't upload your scorecards or rounds to our servers
Children
PocketCaddi is rated 4+ and has no social features, no chat and no user accounts. We don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone, children included.
Your rights
Because the app stores your data on your phone and doesn't send it to us, there's almost nothing for us to delete on your behalf. Deleting the app from your iPhone removes all of it. If you signed up for updates on the website, you can unsubscribe at any time, or email us and we'll remove your email from the list.
Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies, the EU GDPR, you can ask what data (if any) we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, and withdraw consent at any time. Email us at the address above. You can also complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or your local data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top and, where it affects you, show a note in the app the next time you open it.
